About
Lapsus is a French company that imagines, designs and deploys digital products never seen elsewhere.

Our mission
We work exclusively on inventing and developing concepts never seen elsewhere. We aim to offer a global audience unprecedented and memorable experiences on widely accessible platforms. We aspire to showcase the inventiveness and ingenuity of the French spirit through creations that awaken, elevate and connect people.

Our expertise
Creating a unique digital product and allowing it to find its audience requires a broad spectrum of expertise covering the conceptual, technical and aesthetic dimensions. This means inventing new ideas, architecting interfaces, creating graphic identities and visual universes, engineering software and cloud systems, designing intelligent models, managing digital acquisition, and crafting transmedia and transnational advertising campaigns.

Our products
We design web and mobile applications, connected objects, and video games for PC, consoles and mobiles. To date, the only digital product we have released publicly is “NOX – The Social Alarm Clock”, available on Android and iOS. Follow our news to stay informed about our upcoming releases.

Our origins
Lapsus was co-founded in 2019 by Luc Nouguier and Quentin Bailly, both from Nantua, inspired by the great French tradition of Progress sketched by Rabelais in 1546, theorized by Condorcet in 1795, and embodied by Pascal, Papin, de Vaucanson, Cugnot, Chappe, Jacquard, Niépce, Ampère, Daguerre, Eiffel, Ader, Baudot, the Lumière brothers, Dassault, Cousteau and Roland Moreno. Lapsus seeks to inherit this creative French ardor that aims to awaken, elevate and connect, and aspires to revive contemporary French boldness and panache.

Our name
Lapsus comes from the Latin lapsus, derived from the deponent verb labor, labi, lapsus sum, which means “slip, stumble, deviate from the right path.” This Latin etymology reflects our desire to base our approach on the European civilizational heritage and to project ourselves internationally under the banner of that origin. By choosing this name, Lapsus wants to claim the decision to take a path that many of our contemporaries have abandoned.

Our astrolabe
The astrolabe is an instrument invented by the Greeks and perfected by Arab scholars in the Middle Ages. It allowed the measurement of celestial heights, the calculation of time or latitude, and the estimation of building heights using trigonometry. Introduced in Europe in the 11th century, it became indispensable to astronomers and navigators, playing a crucial role in great maritime discoveries. The astrolabe is our logo because it embodies, through its history, versatility and computing power, the analog heritage from which we draw inspiration to invent our digital products.

Our team
Lapsus brings together a team of 19 people, averaging 28 years old, with diverse profiles: designers, engineers, and graphic artists. Each member is chosen for their technical skills, but above all for their interpersonal qualities and their way of being. The work we do daily is highly collaborative and demands both great human qualities and absolute professionalism. Curiosity, boldness, ambition and the pursuit of quality are the common traits of every member of Lapsus.

Our divisions
Lapsus is structured into four divisions that shape the production process of our digital products: Lab, Studio, Tech and Ai. The Lab division invents the concepts we work on. The Studio division imagines their visual universe and graphic experience. The Tech division brings the Lab’s inventions and the Studio’s universes to life by orchestrating their engineering and development. The Ai division designs intelligent systems that allow our digital products to adapt to each user and their preferences.

Our offices
Lapsus is based in Bourg-en-Bresse in France and Montreal in Quebec. These geographic choices enable us to operate across two time zones, speeding up product development and simplifying production oversight. Our headquarters in Bourg-en-Bresse covers 1000m² in a space designed for collaboration and performance. In Montreal, the team works within a 300m² facility located near major tech players, at the heart of a unique creative and cultural melting pot.
“We aim to showcase French boldness and panache through creations that awaken, elevate and connect.”
